Sitges is 35 km from the south-east of Barcelona and it is located between the Macizo del Garraf and the sea. It is very admired for its more than 17 quiet coves, its vibrant nightlife and its emblematic historical sites. It is very well-known worldwide for its Carnival and its International Film Festival.
Sitges historical roots are based on an artistic reputation dating back to the XIV century, when the Spanish painter Santiago Rusiñol stayed here for the summer. The town became a hub for cultural meetings, arriving to be considered the "Small Ibiza".
Today, it is a claimed town by the LGTB touism and it has been recognised worldwide as a gay-friendly place.
Sitges has a population of over 26.000 people and almost 35% of people who live permanently in Sitges are from the Netherlands, United Kingdom, France and Scandinavia. They have found in this town a perfect place in relation with the weather (Sitges enjoys a microclimate the whole year); working conditions, a lot of international companies have their headquarters in Barcelona, and at a personal level they find all types of services for them and their families (international schools, etc.).
